Exetel's MPLS WAN Services

Implementing A Customer's WAN

Exetel will consult with you to determine how best to connect your locations based on the traffic usage, to and from, each location. Exetel will provide a full quotation for the services costed by each location and in total including all installation and support costs.

Exetel is responsible for the design and delivery of the services and the routers and the commissioning of the links between the locations.

The customer is responsible for connection from the Exetel supplied network termination units ( usually Cisco 800, and 1900 series routers) to the LAN infrastructure at each of their locations.

Installation Time Frames

It takes around 40 working days from the date the customer acceptance of a VPN proposal is received by us to the date that the services will be installed and activated. The actual installation schedule is agreed between the customer and Exetel as part of the planning process.

Pricing Monthly Access Charges

Every WAN that Exetel’s designs is different, and is custom built to each of our customers specific requirements, however Exetel can incorporate ADSL1, ADSL2+, 3G, SHDSL, Midband Ethernet, and Fibre services into any one network. Based on these services, a fee of between $50.00 to $100.00 per month would apply on top of our competitive access charges.

VPN Schematic

The following notes on Exetel's own use of a multi office/multi state/multi country VPN should be read in terms of the attached diagram: click here

  • A Virtual Private Network is used to securely connect remote or branch offices to a central or head office.
  • Exetel use high reliability, commercial grade Cisco equipment to connect each site.
  • Each sites local network has direct access to the head office network via a secure Tunnel established by Exetel between the remote site and the head office.
  • Exetel can work with your existing LAN IP address scheme, or can supply you with private or public IP address blocks for each site.

Private and Public IP addresses

  • Where Internet access is requested for a site, Exetel will supply one public IP address.
  • Where no Internet access is requested for a site, Exetel will supply a Private IP address block for the site, or work with the IP address range already in use.
  • Exetel can also provide additional blocks of public IP addresses for any site on request. Please discuss your requirements with the Exetel representative when they contact you.

Internet Access

  • Where Internet access is requested, 'Public IP Address' should also be selected and each workstation at the site will be able to access the Internet via NAT.
  • NAT will be disabled for sites that do not require Internet access.
  • A site may have 'Private IP Address' and also 'Internet' access selected. In this case, the site will be able to access the Internet via the Head Office site only. (this combination is useful if you wish Internet access to be controlled via a central firewall).
